We'll take it!

It's not often that the Groundhog does not see his shadow... in fact, when Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring this year, it was only the 21st time in over 138 years that he has done so! You can bet that I'm hopeful about his weather forecasting abilities!

But even with Phil's promise of that early spring, be sure to take advantage of temps over 55 degrees (F) to put some food on your colonies to help them get past these upcoming critical weeks. If you need some tips for what to do, see my "Give the Girls Some Lovin' in February" post.

Our 2024 BBC is in full swing. All the in-person and online volunteer Ambassadors are doing an amazing job of creating a welcoming and engaging learning experience for our new beekeepers - thank you all! We couldn't conduct our BBC without our Ambassadors - it looks like Phil is joining me in raising his cap in salute to each and every one of them.

P.S. Thanks to MPR.org for the image of Punxsutawney Phil!
