How did you make out getting

Thanks Dave: I like to shop at the home depot 70% off purple rack. 1x10 lumber is easier to come by. The 1 x12 is good bond fire lumber but can't make much else with it. Looks like I'll be building some mediums instead.

A deep hive body is 9 5/8 inches high. A 1 x 10" dimensional board is 9 1/2" wide. Would the 1/8" difference in size affect bee space enough to create problems with bridge comb, excess propolis or bee movement?

The drawn comb will help but you will loose 3 weeks waiting for the package queen to lay and hatch new bees. The package hive would come up faster if you pull 2 frames of brood from your production hives and put them in with the package hive. Saves 3 weeks waiting for the package brood to develop and hatch and the hive will be stronger when the nectorflow starts. Can't predict how much more honey you will be able to harvest.
