I have several deep frames with old honey on them. I would think they are 2 or 3 years old. It seems that the cluster of bees for several years has just eaten their way up. And ignoring some of the frames on the side (with old honey). Do they ignore it because its old? Are they just focused on moving up and not out?

I have one over wintered hive doing great. I have one new colony in another hive created from a package 11 days ago. I plan on adding a second deep brood box to the new package hive. Can I at the same time move a frame of brood into the new top box of the package hive? My thinking is this will encourage the package hive to build out the second box quicker. The box/frames I'm adding is from a colony that almost made over the Winter but did about two months ago. The box I'm going to put on top is completely build out comb and about three full frames of honey. I might do this a week from now. I know one of the risks is chilled/dead brood. Any thoughts?

I have one hive that slowly built out a 10 frame brood box. At this point should I bother putting another 10 frame brood box on top of it. Will they build it out or will it just be a place for other critters to cause problems?

I have two hives both with screened bottom boards. Bought when I started three years ago. For Mites. It seems the jury is still out on how helpful there are with mites. My hives are in the woods, damp and shady. Anyone else using them? I have the inserts in because I restarted with packages two weeks ago. Questions: Pull them off now for the whole Summer? Leave them on see do diagnostics from the fallen debris?

I had two hives die off last year. Hive beetles got way out of control. I'm cleaning up the hives and area getting ready for packages. Anything special that I should do because it was a hive beetle problem and the hives are stinky?

My one hive that overwintered this year has bees. there is flowers still out in the Tulip poplars. honey growth just seems to be slow. honey super was completely new this year I don't think they swarmed off 'cause I never saw a beard or anything like that. Days when it's really warm out its Grand Central station in front of the entrance of the hive. Is April just so cold it killed off honey production?

I have a small puddle of water on the landing board. It was larger but I tilted the hive a bit forward to most of it drains. But on cold mornings like today I'll find some dead bees in it. No big deal? Tilted the hive more so it drains ever square inch Get smarter bees?

Last year I got my Nuc on Mothers Day. They built out two deeps by mid June. I put on one Honey supper just because I thought they were running out of room. They made three small honeycomb bumps in the three center frames. This year I put that supper and frames back on. They are building it out. Three center frames have a lot of comb and some honey. The bees are walking all over all ten frames. Normal? Slow? Around my house there is scattered Red Buds and Cherry Blossoms. But the woods has a ton of Tulip Popular trees. Not in bloom yet. I assume the massive build will start then they come into Full bloom? Sound reasonable?

I've seen some extractors on Amazon for $140.00 ish. Two/three frame yadda yadda I only have one hive that will "probably" give me some honey this year. I plan on only expanding to two hives. Think the extractor at that level are any good? https://www.amazon.com/VINGLI-Adjustable-Beekeeping-Extraction-Centrifuge/dp/B078WKN9KM/ref=sr_1_4?dchild=1&keywords=VINGLI+Upgraded+3+Frame+Honey+Extractor+Separator&qid=1586291346&sr=8-4

What is the gold standard for testing Mites? Alcohol wash or sugar roll? I watch the Penn State Extension class today, they said sugar roll. I thought the alcohol wash was better..

Has anyone ever build racks for their hives? I'm thinking of two parallel vertical 2X10s supported by some 4x4's. About easy lifting height. Long enough for two hives and a central work place. Anyone done this? Suggestions? Pics?
