Varroa treatment with Apiguard

Hello, experienced beekeepers!

We are getting ready to use Apiguard for the first time to treat for Varroa, but we have a few questions. Online sources appear to use just one 50g tray (twice) for multiple brood boxes, is that sufficient? We have 3 medium boxes in our hive. The Apiguard web site also says that a half tray (2 times) is sufficient if the temperature will be above 77 degrees F, which it will be for the next week or more. I'm building a spacer to allow the bees to get into the gel, but I'm not sure if I need more than one spacer and more than one tray per treatment.

As always, any advice you can give us will be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks,

Pete and Jo Ann Geoghan

Thanks for the reply. If the Apiguard web site instructions had been that clear, I wouldn't have asked the question. It says, "Place the opened tray face upwards in the top of brood frames, preferably centred (sic) over the colony." The "brood frames" is what made me think that they might want one over each brood frame, vs. on the top of all brood frames. Thanks again for setting us straight.
