Columbia Association requirements

Hello everyone, I'm brand new to the group and will be setting up a hive on a small, rural farm owned by a second party in Howard county. My family just move to the community and we set up shop in Columbia. We have a decent sized yard and I'd like to setup a hive at our house as well. We don't have a HOA, but does anyone know if the association has a requirement like they do for sheds and other structures? I couldn't immediately find anything about beekeeping.

Hi, Matthew - welcome to the HCBA website and forums! We have lots of information available on this website, including the county and state requirements listed here: https://www.hocoba.com/beekeeping-regulations-1. I'll let others that are familiar with your specific area post any info they have for those requirements.

I also want to encourage you to become a member of HCBA ( https://www.hocoba.com/become-a-member ) and for you to consider attending our Beginning Beekeeping course in 2021 so you will be ready to start your colonies next spring ( https://www.hocoba.com/hcba-classes). Registration should open before December, assuming that the county allows larger group gatherings for the class that starts in February.
