Happy 2025 beekeepers! I hope you and yours are well and that you are looking forward to all the possibilities the new year brings.
At our November meeting, you elected a new Board of Directors for 2025, and it is my honor to have your trust to serve as President again this year. I am looking forward to serving with the other members of the board you elected; I am confident that each one will do an outstanding job in their role as we work to fulfill the HCBA mission to the best of our ability.
Our Beginning Beekeeping Course (BBC) starts on January 29th. If you know of anyone who is thinking about starting in beekeeping, who is curious about beekeeping, or perhaps just wants to learn about honey bees in general, encourage them to attend by directing them to this page on our website. We've made all the 2024 pilot delivery updates to the course, and we're excited to make the BBC even better by piloting the New Beekeeper Practical sessions this year. Think of the Practical sessions as our continuing education offering for new(er) beekeepers.
While we're on the topic of the BBC, please go to our website's Member Only section to sign up to be an Ambassador at the course, to be a Mentor, and/or to host a Field Day. We need you, and so do the new beekeepers who are attending our course - thank you for volunteering!
We have several open and upcoming roles where we need volunteers (such as our 50th Anniversary Planning team) so please use the Ambassador form let us know how you can help. We would also appreciate your sharing any ideas and suggestions for speakers/topics, outreach events, and the like, so please share them using this link or when you see any of your Board of Directors.
So here's to ringing in the new year and the upcoming beekeeping season. I'm looking forward to seeing you soon, but until then, I send wishes to you and yours for a new year that is all you hope for... and then some!
